Yup, Day 3 of stims and not much to report. W is still on the lupron until the trigger, but added the pen-based nightly jabs. No sign of her period but no one seems worried (yet?). It seems she may get it in a day or two or maybe wont this cycle (#ivf is so weird). Poor W also seems to have the flu -- if you google '2013 dizzy flu' - thats the one. Its odd, just a bit of low-grade vertigo but the dr is convinced its viral and not a side effect of the hormones -- and again, no one is worried (yet?). In addition to the 1001 ultrasounds and uncertainty of the ER and ET, W has an 8-hour job talk/interview this week. Phew...if we arent busy now, just think how crazy our lives will be with another little nugget (hopefully!).
Meanwhile, Iz has been a complete ball lately -- she has FINALLY learned the art of a good snuggle and I LOVE it. She runs up to give me a big (strong) hug and nuzzles her head under my chin, while whispering "te amo" *mommy, melt* Speaking of which, it is hilarious sometimes to be raising a Spanglish speaking toddler -- you get such oddities as "No me gusta, wind" on cold, windy days or a random "como (es) eso" thrown in there when she is describing to her baby the objects in her room and how they work. There are some phrases that are almost always discussed in Spanish (lavas los manos) due to their school-based origin, but many others (colors, food, likes, friends) are dependent on the situation or her mood. It does make for some hilarious phrasing.
Spring is in the air and babymaking is on the horizon, and in the meantime, we are a happy little family of 3!

I'm glad it's going well so far. And glad to hear that Izzy has figured out snuggling--definitely an important skill! I feel like Tad spent the first few years of his life too busy running amock to cuddle and it's only recently that he has been able to settle enough to really snuggle.
ReplyDeleteHoping that you'll be a happy little family of FOUR by next spring!
sounds like everything is moving along! that dizzy flu is wild...hope W feels better soon. let's try to squeeze a date into our busy schedules in the near future - now that we can get outside!
ReplyDeleteYes! Maybe a meet-up at drumlin or the park in the common??
Deletedrumlin for sure. we're cautioned against the common because it's a bio-mother hotspot. :( we go to drumlin almost weekly so just email when you've got time!
Deletespanglish toddler! so sweet. she's in an immersion program, is that right? congrats to W on the job talk -- that's so awesome and exciting, even if the timing is a little overwhelming! good luck to you guys.
ReplyDeleteYup! 3-full days/week and I have to admit, it's pretty amazing how much she has picked up. The week in Mexico was also a huge boost as we were all speaking Spanish. Sadly W and I aren't fluent enough to catch some of what she says when there are significantly mispronounced words, but we get by :)
DeleteI feel terrible that there is a Gonal-F pen in my fridge! You can still have it if you need it. GOOD LUCK on this cycle. I loved my first round of IVF because I felt like I was finally making something happen after all the no-result IUIs. (I used to joke that I wanted a bumper sticker that said "IUIs are Bullshit.")
ReplyDeleteG is also funny like that with Spanish/English. He refused to say "water" - it was only "agua" - until this month, and whenever he tries to put something in his mouth that he shouldn't, Rose and I automatically say "En la boca no!" It's awesome.
