so it was not nearly as bad as we had suspected. Im not sure we did it "right" -- at this point, we haven't had enough sleep to actually read any of the books (oh, cruel, cruel irony) -- but we asked around a bit and went with what "made sense" -- we did our new bath-2books-song routine, put her down, she sucked her paci for a bit, realized we were gone and then started to scream -- we went in about 5-6 times over the course of 35 minutes, each time, rubbing her nose and replacing the paci -- and giving her a calming "sussshh" for good measure -- and by some miracle she fell asleep sans paci...
from what I understand, we are supposed to start sleeptraining the "bedtime" routine before tackling the "night wakings" (which really are our issue) -- but at least its a start... I suspect that we are supposed to wait longer than 5 minutes before going back in every cycle (particularly if she generally didnt start crying until 2-3 minutes into us leaving her) but...everything in moderation, right?
and just for those of you following the great swaddle debate -- we decided to go with the swaddle for now. It just seemed like changing up too many things at once was overwhelming. We are going to wait until she can put the paci in her mouth unassisted before we go completely sans swaddle since it seems to keep her asleep for so much longer....
again, any advice is MORE then welcome!

no advice but i hope it's going well over there. sticking with the swaddle a little longer sounds like a good plan all things considered. good luck!
