Even thought Fall is not yet in the air, summer is over in our house. W is back on campus for orientation (after drafting her dissertation this summer - whoot!) and Iz starts 'school' after labor day.
Chhhhanges for sure. Her classroom is called "preschool readiness" but its housed in a proper preschool/pre-K instead of a daycare. The whole school has only 25ish kids on a given day, divided into 5 classes (of about 5-8 kids), but it still feel like a huge jump from her family daycare of 5 kids, total. The main room has hooks for backpacks, there are low toilets and sinks in the open bathroom, and mats instead of cribs, oh my! While she is in the youngest class, she is right smack in the middle of her class, age-wise. Plus at her current daycare she plays with 2.5 and 3 year-olds all day, so we arent really worried about her being "too young" but its still crazy to think that she will be at "school" this year.
We've been dropping-in for morning craft hour and evening "art-shows" so she can meet the other new and returning kids and teachers. She seems to love it, jumping right into the action and actually re-meeting an old "friend" from our brief stint at the Center (daycare). To me, the funniest part is that she hasn't seemed to catch on to the fact that everyone is speaking only Spanish (its immersion). She just zips around narrating her actions in English. But, after 45 minutes there yesterday, we come home with a cray-paper meduza (jelly-fish) and an Izzy who now screams "adios, ninos" at the top of her lungs -- let the school year begin!

ADIOS NINOS! I love it. We totally want to go with a Spanish immersion place too. Next year, I think it's in the cards...not now, unfortunately. Best of luck with all the changes! Sounds like they're good ones.
