Say What?!?

Everyone talked about the language explosion that happens after kids hit after a year. We didnt really expect much. Izzy had started to pick up a few works here and there -- the few before her first birthday - "dog" "no" "ya" and "mama" -- were said sometimes with meaning, (ie there is a dog, and other times just part of babble-talk). Our best friend's daughter is 4 months older than Izzy so when she went thought a verbal-explosion around 14 months, we just thought she was exceptionally talkative (and she really is), but in the past two weeks, it seems like Izzy has picked up 10 new words a week. Everything from being able to correctly use "down" and "all done" (with the hand gesture or on its own) to funny words like "yuck" when she has a full diaper. I love it!

She loves the commands (typical!) and repeats EVERYTHING. The pronunciation is still definitely one of interpretation, but its close, or sometimes less so..... She's obsessed with rocks, collects them every morning while we walk to the dog. And then to every person who walks past us -- "hi" -- "rock" (which sounds more like "fock" -- then "bye-bye" -- Its hilarious, most people get it, but there is generally a moment of 'say-what' on their faces before she proudly holds up her fists-full of rocks..

oh toddlerhood, you rock (fock)!
