jetlag and "travelers" tummy - and just so you dont all think that our trip was all sunshine and ponies, a quick note on the not-so-fun part of traveling with a 13-month old...
Izzy has never been a great sleeper and food has always been an issue so we were *shocked* when we first arrived in Marrakesh and she went down without a peep, woke up only once per night (which is typical) and took her usual (or sometimes even better than usual) 2 naps/day at the "right" (adjusted) times. The food seemed to agree with her since she was a) eating a TON and b) didnt seem to have any gastric response to the new flavors...Whew, traveling ROCKS!
And then...the honeymoon phase ended with a crash. Due to some user error on our part -- no, giving your toddler unwashed peas purchased from the outdoor market in a small hillside town is NOT a good idea (in our defense we shelled the peas so they seemed "protected"). Within 24 hours she had the most severe case of travelers tummy -- commence 5 days of the WORST diarrhea ever -- you know, the kind where you not only changer her whole outfit but your outfit every time you change her..ya, that kind! But still, she was sleeping ok, so we couldnt complain too much. And then add to that, 2 days and 10+ hours of travel and a 5 hour time change and BANG, sleep-hell.
We arrived home on Saturday evening and since then, she (and thus we) have probably had no more than 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep. We are all exhausted and W and I lack a plan of attack. Should we let her cry it out when she wakes up every 2 hours, make her stay in her crib since 4am is NOT wake up time? Since she still seems sick, that doesnt seem like the right approach, but...AHH! The thought of sleep training all over again is so painful. We had FINALLY gotten to a good place before we left and were THRILLED to see that it stuck for the first few days of our trip, its so demoralizing to be back at square-1 (or -1). Why does it seem that we are the only ones with a 13-month-old who has the sleep habits of a 4-month old!

Oh no, this isn't a good follow up post. I'm sorry Izzy is regressing with her sleep. I feel your sleepless pain.
