Crawdling -- My birthday was Saturday and Izzy decided to give me the best present ever -- 2 steps. Yesterday she took 4 steps..while its still pretty tentative and only with coaxing, we are nibbling at the heels of toddlerhood
Food -- She is eating EVERYTHING. We finally broke down and did a proper allergy test (blood test) and discovered she is allergic to NOTHING. She still might be lactose and gluten intolerant but its unlikely that she will carry those for much longer. With this news we opened the door to new foods and she is LOVING it. Every morning we both have eggs and toast. She would eat 4 eggs every meal if I let her. And for dinner she is able to nibble at some of what we eat. Its so fun to explore new foods with her....
"Talking" -- We think that her first word is dog..or some slight variation of that. She is also signing up a storm, but in a typical Izzy fashion has adopted "bird" to mean "milk" and a few other signs of her own creation. Oh well, at least we know what she means..sometimes..
Travel -- Our plans are set for Marrakesh in March, but before then we will be in NYC for a few days over Xmas and then in the Bay Area for 3 weeks. Last time we headed west it kicked off the worst of our sleep drama so we are a bit hesitant but..what can we do.
10 months is amazing! She is a giggly, energetic, funny ball of cuddles.
And now, for those of you still reading, a quick question on naps. Izzy is way too old to still be taking 3 naps, but since she was not sleeping well at night, we have just gone with it. Now that her night sleep is getting better (typically 11 hours) her naps are a mess. She still wants to take her 3 naps as she gets tired at the "set" time, but then only sleeps for 30 minutes. When she wakes up she is not really rested but we cant get her back to sleep. Anyone experience this? Should we be helping her consolidate or just let it happen on its own? Help!
happy birthday! milestones, indeed...go izzy! enjoy all the fabulous travel ahead and fingers crossed the sleep continues smoothly.
ReplyDeleteShe is getting so big! And cuter every day! I'm so glad to hear it keeps getting more fun. This is what I hoped. Juju definitely is getting more fun all the time. No thoughts on napping, sorry. Juju is a good sleeper but a crap napper. Let us know what you find out!
ReplyDeleteI think our baby's first word will be dog or doggie, too. Our dog is one of the most exciting things in her life (in her opinion).
ReplyDeleteOn naps, we're now pretty much at two naps a day, with the occasional three nap day. She wakes up at 7 am, naps at 9 am for an hour and 2 pm for 1-2 hours and is down for the night at 7 pm (give or take 30 minutes on either side). To get her there we had to help her extend her naps from the previous 20-40 minutes to the times above which I think happened by close nap monitoring and getting her back down before she fully woke up with the soother or nursing. Then, we had to keep her entertained with really exciting things to extend the time between her morning and afternoon nap which we did gradually. I think most of all she needed to be ready for it and that made the efforts above finally click.
